The idea for this project is a response to the disposal of household products. Furniture items are often dumped on the side of the road and these deposits of waste leave impressions not only on the earth but in our social consciousness.
Found rotting couches were re-constructed into planter boxes that were carved into and filled with organic matter. The couches were returned to the streets with an impression of a seated human body which referenced it’s functional use over many years. Over time a symbiotic relationship between materials grew into a topiary of the human form.
